New Still House Controls



Business Issue

The customer was constructing a new still house at the existing location to meet future demand of their product. Their current still house was very old and run via manual means. A new control system needed to provide the site with optimization and ease of use capabilities.

Project Summary

Cornerstone Controls designed and implemented a DeltaV control system. This was done in coordination with the design of the equipment and building space by the site engineers. We worked together on the specific timeline to deliver a tested facility  to allow for production of the specified product on time.

The control system included the software to control approximately 300 I/O points as well as the attendant DeltaV hardware required.  The control valves were installed on Foundation Fieldbus to allow for intelligent data collection and the motor starters were on DeviceNet.

    • Panel layout for the DeltaV components

    • Functional Requirements
    • Software design and configuration
    • Factory Acceptance testing
    • Operator training
  • System Commissioning


The still house was able to start up on schedule and within budget. The customer achieved the specified production volumes.
